Noah's Ark — section 1

Noah Found Grace

Scripture: Genesis 6:8 (KJV)

Full Scripture (KJV):

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”

The world had become very different from the good world God created. People were choosing sin instead of God's ways. But in the middle of that dark time, the Bible tells us something beautiful: Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. Noah was not the one who invented a way to rescue himself. God was the One who showed grace. Noah walked with God and listened to Him. God saw Noah. God knew Noah. And God had a plan.

Noah's Ark — section 2

God Told Noah to Build an Ark

Scripture: Genesis 6:14 (KJV)

Full Scripture (KJV):

“Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.”

God told Noah that judgment was coming upon the earth because of sin. Then God gave Noah very specific instructions. He told him to build a huge ark. The ark was not a little boat. It was a massive vessel that would carry Noah, his family, and the animals safely through the flood. Noah had never seen anything like this before but God knew exactly what was coming. God knew exactly what Noah needed.

Noah's Ark — section 3

Noah Obeyed God

Scripture: Genesis 6:22 (KJV)

Full Scripture (KJV):

“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”

Noah did not simply listen to God's instructions. He obeyed them. He built the ark exactly as God commanded. Imagine how long the work must have taken. Imagine people watching Noah build such a huge ark. Some may have wondered what he was doing but Noah kept working. He trusted God's Word more than the opinions of people around him. Faith is not only saying that we believe God. True faith changes what we do. Noah believed God, so Noah obeyed God.

Noah's Ark — section 4

The Animals Entered the Ark

Scripture: Genesis 7:9 (KJV)

Full Scripture (KJV):

“There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.”

The time came to enter the ark. Noah went in with his family. Then the animals came. Big animals, small animals, birds, animals that crawled, animals that walked. The Bible says they went in two and two, just as God had commanded. God was carrying out exactly what He had promised. The ark was ready. Noah's family was inside. The animals were inside. Then the door was shut.

Noah's Ark — section 5

The Flood Came

Scripture: Genesis 7:17 (KJV)

Full Scripture (KJV):

“And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.”

Then the rain came. The waters rose higher and higher. This was not just an ordinary storm. God's judgment had come upon the earth but the ark rose above the waters. Inside the ark, Noah and his family were safe because God had provided a place of rescue. The same God who warned Noah was faithful to protect him. God always keeps His word.

Noah's Ark — section 6

God Remembered Noah

Scripture: Genesis 8:1 (KJV)

Full Scripture (KJV):

“And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;”

For a long time, Noah and his family remained inside the ark. Water was everywhere. They could not simply leave when they wanted. They had to wait but God had not forgotten them. The Bible says: God remembered Noah. That does not mean God had ever stopped thinking about Noah. It means God was continuing to care for him and carry out His promise. God sent a wind. The waters began to go down. Little by little, dry land began to appear again.

Noah's Ark — section 7

Noah Came Out and Worshipped God

Scripture: Genesis 8:20 (KJV)

Full Scripture (KJV):

“And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.”

At last, God told Noah that it was time to leave the ark. Noah, his family, and the animals came out onto dry land. What do you think Noah did first? He worshipped God. Noah built an altar unto the LORD. After everything he had experienced, Noah remembered who had saved him. He did not forget God's goodness. He worshipped the God who had kept His word.

Noah's Ark — section 8

God's Rainbow Promise

Scripture: Genesis 9:13 (KJV)

Full Scripture (KJV):

“I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”

After the flood, God made a covenant. He placed His bow in the cloud as a sign of His promise. Whenever Noah saw the bow in the sky, he could remember that God keeps His word. Today, when we see a rainbow, we can remember the God of Genesis. The rainbow reminds us that God is faithful. He judges sin rightly. He shows mercy and He always keeps His promises.

The Greatest Rescue

The ark was a real place of rescue that God provided for Noah and his family. It also helps us understand something important. We have a much greater problem than rain or floodwaters. We are sinners who need to be saved from our sin. We cannot save ourselves by being good enough. God has provided salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died for our sins and rose again.

The Bible says:

John 3:16 (KJV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Come to Jesus Christ in faith. He is the Saviour God has provided.
