What It Means
Psalm 92:1 tells us that thanking God is a good thing. God gives us so many blessings every day, but sometimes we can become so busy that we forget to notice them. We can thank God for our family, food, home, friends, health, school, playtime, and all the little things He gives us. But we do not thank God only when everything is going well. Some days we may be sick, sad, tired, or disappointed. Even on those days, God is still good. He is still with us, He still hears us, and He still loves us. The greatest reason we have to thank God is Jesus. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins. Jesus died for us and rose again so that everyone who believes in Him can be forgiven and have everlasting life. The verse also says that we can sing praises to God's name. We can praise Him at church, at home, in the car, or anywhere. Our words and our songs can tell God, “Thank You for being so good to me.”
Think About It
What are three things you can thank God for today? Can you still thank God for something good when you are having a hard day? Why is Jesus the greatest gift God has given us?
Activity
Think of three things God has given you today and say, “Thank You, God,” for each one. Then sing one song that praises God.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You for loving me and taking care of me. Thank You for my family, my food, my home, and all the blessings You give me every day. Most of all, thank You for sending Jesus to save me. Help me remember to thank You when I am happy and even when I am having a difficult day. Help me praise You with my words and my songs. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
