The Almighty God inclines His ear to hear our prayers. Psalm 116 calls us to remember His mercy, bring Him our troubles, and respond to His salvation with thanksgiving and a renewed life of prayer.

Psalm 116:1–2 KJV
Loading KJV Scripture…
“I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”
— Psalm 116:1–2 (KJV)
As I continue through these psalms, I keep seeing the greatness and goodness of God. Psalm 113 speaks of the One who humbles Himself to behold the things in heaven and earth. Psalm 115 calls Him our help and shield. Now Psalm 116 makes it deeply personal: this same Almighty God inclines His ear to hear my prayer.
The God who created everything listens to me. What a privilege! Yet this passage also searches my heart. With such a loving and powerful God to call upon, am I spending time with Him? These days, I must confess that I need to pray more. I want my gratitude for His care to draw me into His presence.
“For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.”
— Psalm 116:8 (KJV)
How much has the Lord carried us through? The dangers we noticed, the troubles we could not manage, and the mercies we may never fully recognise. He has seen our tears and sustained our steps. How gracious and good He is!
When anxiety rises or our hearts are deeply troubled, we can cry out as the psalmist did: “O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul” (Psalm 116:4). We do not need polished words. We can bring Him our need honestly. His help may not come in the way or timing we expect, but we can trust His faithful care.
“I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.”
— Psalm 116:13 (KJV)
As I read these words, I thank God for the salvation we have through Jesus Christ. Through Him, we can draw near to God. My response is to receive His grace with thanksgiving, walk before Him, and keep calling upon His name.
Lord, You have inclined Your ear toward me. Help me turn my heart toward You.
Reflection
With such a loving and powerful God to call upon, am I spending time with Him? What can I bring honestly before Him in prayer today?
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank You for hearing my voice and my cries for mercy. Forgive me for neglecting the precious privilege of prayer. Thank You for carrying me through trouble, seeing my tears, and sustaining my steps. Through Jesus Christ, You have given me salvation and access to Your presence. Draw me closer, and teach me to call upon You as long as I live. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
