Lord, You Are So Great, Yet You Care for Me

October 21, 2026Psalm 113:6By Paul

The God who reigns above heaven and earth stoops down to care for the poor and needy. His greatness reminds me to trust Him, thank Him for His daily provision, and show His kindness to those others overlook.

As I read Psalm 113 today, this verse made me pause. God stoops down to look at heaven and earth. Even the heavens, which seem so vast to us, are beneath Him. How great is the God we serve!

Sometimes the things in front of me seem so big. Problems occupy my thoughts. Responsibilities feel heavy. But this psalm reminds me to lift my eyes and remember who God is. His power is greater than anything I face.

And then the psalm shows us something beautiful about His greatness. He notices the poor and the needy. He reaches into places of poverty and humiliation and raises people to a place of honour. Those whom others overlook are precious to Him.

The Almighty God cares about people in their lowest circumstances. What a reason to trust Him. What a reason to praise Him!

In these recent psalms, I have been reminded to thank God, remember what He has done, obey His Word, and depend on His strength. Today, I am reminded of the One on whom I depend. He rules above heaven and earth, and He sees my need.

This makes me want to thank Him for the everyday provisions I can easily take for granted: the ability to work, the help to fulfil my responsibilities, transport for my family, and strength for another day. I want to recognise His goodness in the ordinary parts of life.

His care also teaches me how to treat others. If God notices the poor and the overlooked, I should notice them too. May the mercy I receive from Him make me generous, attentive, and willing to help.

Thank You, Lord, that You are so great, yet You care for me.

Reflection

What concern do I need to bring before the Almighty God today? Whose need can I notice and respond to with kindness?

Prayer

Lord, You are above heaven and earth, yet You stoop down to care for us. Thank You for seeing me, providing for me, and helping me through each day. Forgive me when I forget Your greatness or take Your gifts for granted. Teach me to depend on You and to care for those whom others overlook. Let my life reflect gratitude for Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
