The living God hears us, sees us, and remembers us. Because of His unfailing love and faithfulness, we can trust Him as our help and shield, giving Him the glory for all He has done.
Scripture
Psalm 115:11 KJV
Loading KJV Scripture…
Yesterday, Psalm 114 reminded me that the sea fled and the mountains trembled at the presence of God. Today, Psalm 115 begins by reminding me where all the glory belongs:
“Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.”
When God makes a way, answers prayer, or gives me strength, the glory belongs to Him. His goodness flows from His unfailing love and faithfulness. I want to remember that when I share what He has done.
The psalm then describes idols made by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see, and ears but cannot hear. Their feet cannot carry them anywhere. And those who make them and trust in them become like them.
How different is the living God we serve! He sees our circumstances. He hears our prayers. He speaks, and He acts. Our trust is in the One who made us and sustains us.
And here is what encouraged me most: this great God is our help and our shield.
The God whose presence makes the earth tremble invites us to trust Him. He helps us in our weakness and shields us according to His wisdom. I do not have to carry today’s responsibilities as though I am alone.
Verse 12 says, “The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us.” He remembers His people. Even when an answer takes time, I am not forgotten.
The invitation is for all who fear Him, both small and great. I do not need to be important in the world’s eyes to receive His care.
Today, I want to trust the God who hears me, remembers me, and helps me. And whatever He enables me to do, may the glory return to Him.
Reflection
Where do I need to trust the Lord as my help and shield today? Am I giving Him the glory for His goodness?
Prayer
Lord, all glory belongs to You. Thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. You see me, hear me, and remember me. Help me turn from anything I trust more than You. Teach me to fear You, depend on You, and give You the glory in every part of my life. You are my help and my shield. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
