Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So!

October 15, 2026Psalm 107:2By Paul

Psalm 107 reminds us to remember God's goodness, give thanks, and proclaim His mighty works. While Psalm 105 shows God's faithfulness and Psalm 106 warns us of Israel's disobedience, Psalm 107 calls the redeemed to testify. If God has rescued, forgiven, and blessed us, we should not remain silent. Our gratitude should lead us to worship, obedience, and a life that reflects His goodness. We do not obey to earn His redemption; we obey because He has redeemed us.

Over the past few days, as I have been reading through the Psalms, one thought has stayed with me. Psalm 105 reminds me of all the wonderful things God did for His people. He rescued them, provided for them, guided them, and remained faithful to His promises. But the chapter ends by reminding us why He did all these things: so that His people would observe His statutes and keep His laws. Then I read Psalm 106.

Despite experiencing God's mighty power and goodness, the Israelites repeatedly forgot His works. They turned away from Him, complained, disobeyed, and followed their own desires and I found myself asking, How can I keep myself from falling into the same pattern? How can I remember His goodness and remain faithful to Him?

Today, Psalm 107 gave me a beautiful reminder.

“Let the redeemed of the LORD say so.”

If God has redeemed me, why should I remain silent? If He has rescued me, why should I keep His goodness to myself? If He has answered my prayers, carried me through difficulties, forgiven my sins, provided for my needs, and shown me His unfailing love, shouldn't I be telling others about Him?

Throughout Psalm 107, we see people in desperate situations. Some wandered in the wilderness, some sat in darkness, some suffered because of their foolishness, and others were overwhelmed by storms. But one beautiful truth is repeated throughout the chapter:

“Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.” (Psalm 107:6, 13, 19, 28)

Again and again, God heard their cries and delivered them. Again and again, the psalmist calls them to praise the Lord for His goodness and His wonderful works. As I read this, I realize something important. Remembering God's goodness should not stop with a thankful thought in my heart. It should lead me to worship Him, obey Him, and proclaim His wonderful works.

I do not want to be someone who experiences God's goodness today but forgets Him tomorrow. I do not want to receive His blessings and then live as though I have accomplished everything by my own strength. I want to remember. I want to give thanks. I want to obey. And I want to tell others what He has done.

Because when I testify about God's faithfulness, I am also reminding my own heart of who He is. When I praise Him, I am turning my attention away from myself and toward His greatness. When I speak about His mighty works, I am declaring that He alone deserves the glory. And when I remember His mercy, I am reminded of why I want to walk in obedience to Him. It is not my testimony that earns His redemption. It is His grace that has redeemed me through Jesus Christ. And because I belong to Him, I want my life and my words to honour Him.

Psalm 107 ends with another important reminder:

“Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.” — Psalm 107:43 (KJV)

How often do I take time to consider what the Lord has done? How often do I share His goodness with my children, my family, my friends, and those around me? Maybe I do not need to wait for something extraordinary to happen before I testify. Every day I have reasons to thank Him. If the Lord has redeemed me, let me say so. If He has been good to me, let me proclaim it. If He has shown me mercy, let my life reflect it.

Reflection

Have I become so familiar with God's blessings that I have stopped noticing them? What has the Lord done in my life that I have not yet shared with others? Am I allowing the remembrance of His goodness to lead me into thanksgiving, obedience, and worship?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love and the wonderful things You have done in my life. Forgive me for the times I have forgotten Your goodness and taken Your blessings for granted. Lord, I do not want to repeat the mistakes of the Israelites, who experienced Your mighty works yet repeatedly turned away from You. Give me a heart that remembers, a mouth that proclaims, and a life that obeys. Help me never to remain silent about Your goodness. May my testimony encourage others to seek You and may everything I do bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
