"Psalm 105 reminds us to remember God’s wonderful works, give thanks, and proclaim His goodness. Verse 45 reveals the purpose behind His provision and deliverance: that His people would follow His instructions. As Thanksgiving passes, may our gratitude continue through lives of obedience to His Word."

As Thanksgiving passes, I find myself reflecting on everything God has done. There are prayers He has answered, difficult seasons He has carried us through, and daily mercies we can easily overlook. Psalm 105 invites us to remember His wonderful works, give thanks, and make His deeds known.
The psalm tells the story of God’s faithfulness across generations. He remembered His covenant. He sent Joseph ahead of his family into Egypt. Yet before Joseph became a ruler, he suffered as a slave and a prisoner. Verse 19 tells us that until what God had spoken came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him. The waiting and suffering did not mean that God had forgotten him.
Then we read how God delivered His people from Egypt, guided them through the wilderness, and provided food and water. Again and again, we see His faithfulness.
But the final verse made me pause:
“That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws.”
All these blessings came with a purpose. God rescued His people and provided for them so that they would walk in His ways. His goodness called for a response that reached into their everyday lives.
That makes me examine my own heart. I thank God for His provision, but am I trusting His instructions? I praise Him for His faithfulness, but am I faithful in what He has asked of me? I speak about His goodness, but do my choices reflect my love for Him?
We cannot earn God’s grace through obedience. Yet having received His goodness, we have every reason to respond with willing hearts.
As we carry the spirit of Thanksgiving into the days ahead, let us remember what God has done, tell others of His faithfulness, and put His Word into practice.
May my thanksgiving continue in the way I live.
Reflection
What is one instruction from God’s Word that I need to put into practice today?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness, for the blessings I can see, and for the ways You have sustained me without my knowing. Help me remember Your works and speak of Your goodness. Let my gratitude shape my choices. Give me a willing heart to follow Your instructions and obey Your Word, even when it is difficult. In Jesus’ name, amen.
