Day 1 — Do Not Negotiate: Flee
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:18–20 (KJV)
Full Scripture (KJV):
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Explanation:
Paul does not tell believers to stand close to sexual sin and prove how strong they are. He says, “Flee.” Sexual temptation often grows stronger when we stay near it, entertain it, or assume we can control it. Fleeing may mean leaving a room, ending a private conversation, turning off a device, blocking access, or refusing a situation before it develops.
This is not cowardice. It is wisdom. Your body belongs to God, and holiness sometimes looks like getting away quickly.
Reflection:
What situation, app, conversation, relationship, or habit do I need to stop negotiating with and simply leave?
Prayer:
Lord, give me wisdom to recognize danger early and courage to flee before temptation grows stronger. Help me glorify You with my body and my choices. Amen.
Day 2 — Joseph Refused, Then Ran
Scripture: Genesis 39:7–12 (KJV)
Full Scripture (KJV):
7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; 9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? 10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. 11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. 12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
Explanation:
Joseph did not suddenly become strong in verse 12. He had already been saying no “day by day.” He knew the temptation was not merely against his master; he called it sin against God.
But when she physically grabbed him, Joseph did not stay to argue, explain, pray longer, or prove his self-control. He left his garment and ran.
There is an important pattern here: refuse temptation early, avoid unnecessary proximity, and when the moment becomes dangerous, leave immediately.
Reflection:
Am I staying near a temptation because I believe I can handle it, even though wisdom is telling me to leave?
Prayer:
God, give me Joseph’s clarity to call sin what it is and Joseph’s courage to run when I need to run. Amen.
Day 3 — Flee, Then Pursue
Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:22 (KJV)
Full Scripture (KJV):
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Explanation:
The Christian strategy is not only “stop.” Paul gives two movements: flee and follow. Run away from lust, then actively pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace.
If we only remove temptation but leave an empty space, old habits often return. Replace what feeds lust with what strengthens your love for God: prayer, Scripture, meaningful work, exercise, healthy friendships, service, sleep, and time with people who help you follow Christ.
Notice also that Paul says to pursue these things “with them” who call on the Lord. Holiness was never meant to be a solo project.
Reflection:
What healthy pursuit can replace the time, attention, or energy that temptation has been taking from me?
Prayer:
Lord, help me not only run from what is wrong but run toward what is good. Fill my life with righteousness, faith, love, peace, and godly friendships. Amen.
Day 4 — Create Distance Before the Crisis
Scripture: Proverbs 5:7–8 (KJV)
Full Scripture (KJV):
7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. 8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
Explanation:
Biblical wisdom often works before the moment of temptation. Proverbs says to keep far away and not even go near the door.
For us, “the door” may be a website, private messaging, late-night scrolling, secrecy, an emotionally inappropriate relationship, certain entertainment, or being alone in a situation where boundaries repeatedly weaken.
A boundary is strongest when it is decided before desire becomes intense.
Reflection:
What “door” do I keep walking near that I should stop approaching altogether?
Prayer:
Father, help me build wise boundaries before temptation becomes urgent. Give me humility to remove access instead of assuming I am stronger than I am. Amen.
Day 5 — Guard What Enters Your Eyes and Mind
Scripture: Job 31:1; Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
Full Scripture (KJV):
Job 31:1 (KJV): 1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
Philippians 4:8 (KJV): 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Explanation:
Sexual temptation is often strengthened long before an outward act. What we repeatedly watch, imagine, revisit, and fantasize about trains our desires.
Job speaks about making a deliberate commitment concerning his eyes. Paul tells believers to intentionally direct the mind toward what is pure and worthy.
Guarding your mind is not pretending attraction does not exist. It is refusing to feed what you do not want to grow.
Reflection:
What am I repeatedly allowing into my eyes or imagination that makes purity harder?
Prayer:
Lord, guard my eyes and renew my mind. Teach me to turn away quickly from what feeds lust and to fill my thoughts with what is pure and pleasing to You. Amen.
Day 6 — Do Not Fight Alone
Scripture: James 5:16; Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 (KJV)
Full Scripture (KJV):
James 5:16 (KJV): 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 (KJV): 9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
Explanation:
Secrecy gives temptation room to grow. Bringing a struggle into the light with a trustworthy, mature believer can weaken its power.
Accountability should not be humiliation or surveillance. It should be truthful Christian friendship: someone who can pray, ask direct questions, remind you of Scripture, and help you rebuild wise boundaries.
If the struggle is persistent or compulsive, seeking help from a qualified counselor can also be a wise step.
Reflection:
Who is one mature and trustworthy person with whom I can be honest instead of fighting this alone?
Prayer:
God, give me humility to ask for help. Give me trustworthy people who will pray for me, tell me the truth, and help me walk faithfully. Amen.
Day 7 — When You Fall, Run Back to Christ
Scripture: 1 John 1:9; Romans 8:1 (KJV)
Full Scripture (KJV):
1 John 1:9 (KJV): 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Romans 8:1 (KJV): 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.
Explanation:
The enemy can use shame after sexual sin to drive a person into more secrecy and more sin. Scripture calls us in the opposite direction: confess, receive forgiveness, and return to obedience.
Grace does not make sexual sin unimportant. Grace makes repentance possible. If you fall, do not turn one failure into a week, month, or year of hiding. Bring it into the light quickly. Ask what boundary failed. Make the needed change. Receive God’s forgiveness and keep walking.
Your identity in Christ is not defined by the temptation you experienced or even by the sin you confessed. Christ calls you back into the light.
Reflection:
When I fail, do I run away from God in shame or run toward Him in repentance?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You are faithful to forgive and cleanse. When I fail, help me confess quickly, receive Your grace, repair what needs to change, and continue walking with You. Amen.
